Privacy policy.

Your photographs and records

Torimado processes camera images and detects birds on your iPhone. It does not send your captures, observation records or location to us. There is no Torimado account, advertising, analytics service or third-party crash reporter.

Torimado stores captures and records locally. It does not provide a cloud service or its own backup service. Your device backup settings may include this data. Copies in Photos, shared files and existing backups are managed separately. The Watch app exchanges controls and status with your paired iPhone using Apple’s WatchConnectivity; this does not go through a server operated by us.

Permissions

You can change camera, microphone, location and Photos permissions in your device’s Settings. Features that need a permission may not work without it.

Saving and sharing

You decide when to save to Photos, share a capture or export records as CSV or JSON. Any location stored in a file travels with it when you share that file. Check the file and its metadata before sharing. Services you choose to receive or store copies have their own privacy practices.

Keeping and deleting data

Saved captures and records remain in the app until you delete them. In Records, use Delete to remove a record and its associated in-app photographs and video. Unprotect a protected record before deleting it. Temporary capture-buffer files are rotated and cleaned up separately; they are not a permanent archive.

Deleting the app removes its local data from that iPhone. Copies already saved to Photos, exported or shared, and existing device backups are separate: manage those in Photos, Files, the receiving service or your device backup settings. Offloading the app is not the same as deleting its data.

App Store purchases

Torimado is a paid download. Apple processes your purchase through the App Store. We do not receive your payment-card details. Apple’s processing is covered by its own privacy policy.

If you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, sender name, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to answer your enquiry and resolve support or privacy requests. Providing it is voluntary, but we need a way to reply if you want an answer. Please send only what is necessary; precise bird locations are not needed.

Incoming mail to support@torimado.com and privacy@torimado.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail mailbox supplied by Google. Replies are written manually and sent from torimado.support@gmail.com. We do not submit support messages to a separate AI drafting service or use them for marketing.

We keep support correspondence for up to 12 months, then delete it from the support mailbox. You may request earlier deletion at privacy@torimado.com. Deletion from the mailbox does not instantly erase providers’ backup or security records; their deletion cycles and legal retention requirements also apply. We cannot delete copies held by your own email provider.

We cannot access or recover your local captures or records unless you send us copies. Do not send your Apple Account password or payment-card details.

This website

These static pages contain no analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, contact forms, embedded third-party media or third-party fonts. We do not set cookies or use browser storage. Cloudflare, which serves the site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect it from automated traffic. Email links open your chosen email application; following an external link takes you to that provider’s service.

Cloudflare Pages serves the website. Cloudflare processes connection and request information, such as IP address, requested page, time and browser information, to deliver and protect the site. This is separate from the app’s on-device processing. Cloudflare’s retention depends on the purpose of the data, security needs and legal obligations; see its privacy policy, including its data-retention section.

Service providers and international processing

Google handles support mailbox storage and outgoing mail; Cloudflare handles incoming email routing and website delivery. These providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Using the app does not send your captures to these services; contacting support or visiting the website involves the separate processing described above.

The providers describe their international-transfer safeguards, including applicable adequacy arrangements and contractual safeguards, in Google’s data-transfer framework and Cloudflare’s privacy policy. For mailbox data and deletion, see Google’s privacy policy and retention explanation. Contact privacy@torimado.com if you need more information about the handling of your correspondence.

Your rights and our lawful basis

Kin Wai Yeung, trading as Torimado in the United Kingdom, is the data controller for support correspondence and the operation of this website. Contact privacy@torimado.com for privacy questions or complaints.

We rely on legitimate interests to answer enquiries, provide support and operate a secure, accessible website. We limit this processing to what is needed for those purposes and consider your rights and interests. We do not use support correspondence for advertising, profiling or automated decisions about you.

Under UK data protection law, you can ask to access or correct personal information, request erasure or restriction, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Data portability may apply in circumstances defined by law. These rights depend on the circumstances. Write to privacy@torimado.com; we may ask for proportionate information to verify that a request concerns your data.

You may complain to us, and you also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Torimado is exempt from the ICO data protection fee according to the self-assessment completed on 8 October 2026. This does not remove our data protection obligations.

Changes to this policy

This policy covers Torimado, support correspondence and this website. We will update this page and its date when our practices change, including before introducing materially different handling of support messages.
